Pacific Jewel’s Aqua Spa

spa

For all those passengers who can’t wait to get onboard to relax and pamper themselves, here is something that I know you will love…

Pacific Jewel will feature a beautiful spa called ‘Aqua’. The spa is huge – at 1300 square metres, it is one of the biggest spas at sea!

spa 2

Aqua is the perfect place to escape, and is sure to be a favourite spot for many of our passengers. Aqua has everything you could possibly need to relax and indulge with a great variety of massages and treatments, steam rooms, saunas, whirlpool spas and relaxation rooms.

spa 3

And, for those wanting to get fit onboard Pacific Jewel, why not visit the ocean view gym or join the crew for a walk or jog around the deck – it certainly beats any ordinary gym.

Looking forward to seeing you onboard soon.

Counting downt he days till we go on our cruise on Pacific Jewell leaving Sydney 28th March 2010. My Partner & I are taking his 2 children – boy & girl, 11 & 7, they are excited, I’ve cruised before but my partner & his children haven’t. Anyone else reading this who is booked on the same cruise! or have taken their kids before & have any suggestions to pass onto us.

  • Emma:)

Im a 11 and i have been on the pacific sun i would tel your kids to go to the shark shak it is very very exiting

  • Bernadette

My husband and I are taking this cruise in March – our second cruise, We are also taking a friend with us as she has listened to our raptures on our previous cruise on the Pacific Dawn last August.

Suggestions – the kids will love the clubs especially for them and your partner and you will be blown away by the sheer size of the ship. My husband and I had a brilliant time . Even though there are 2000 passengers and almost as many crew, you can always find a nook somewhere for quiet time or just watch life on the sun deck,

The Pacific Jewel appears to be even a better ship than the Pacific Dawn – if that is possible

  • http://PacificJewelblog Kay

Hi Learne, when you get on board register the children in their rooms. The 7 year old will be in the shark shack and the 11 year old will be in the teens room. They will have a ball as my children did 25 years ago and now my grandchildren do. We set sail on the dawn in two weeks and on the jewel nov. 2010. Don’t forget the avomine 25mg for sea sickness. Anytime dining is great but we use the bistro style dining on Lido deck with the kids as you serve yourself and not waiting around.to be served as in the main dining room.

  • http://hotmail Learne

that’s good to know Kay thankyou, I hope you have a great cruise in two weeks time.

  • http://hotmail Learne

thankyou for that Bernadette, you never know we may run into each other. Are you from NSW!

  • Kym O’Shea

Taking our children girl 11yrs & boy 9yrs on Pacific Dawn on 20Oct 09. This will be a first for our kids too. I’ll let you know how they go when we get back. In the meantime, find the thread in the Cruising Chatter section of the Pacific Dawn blog site. There you’ll read Allison has lots of great information as she travels often with her young children and uses the kids clubs.

  • http://hotmail Learne

Thanks for that Kym. We were actually looking at the cruise on the 20th Oct, looks to be a lovely cruise, some beautiful ports of call, have a great time & yes, would love to hear how your cruise goes with the kids.

  • Debbie

OMG we are going on the same cruise, March 28th 2010
My husband and I are travelling with our two sons aged 13 and 15, this will be our first time cruising and we cant wait.

  • http://hotmail Learne

That’s good to hear Debbie. Are you from NSW. You will all have a great time, hopefully we will meet with the kids going to the kids club & being around the same age. Look forward to it.

  • Bernadette

    Hi Learne

We are from NSW – the Southern Highlands. Just counting the weeks, days and minutes

  • Kim

My partner and I are sailing on the Jewel on the 10th March 2010. This will be our first cruise. He wasnt sure at first, but is now busy planning things to do while on board and tourist bits and pieces.

We will be using this as a pick me up after a rough 2009 and busy lives looking after parents (him and me).

  • http://hotmail Learne

Hi Bernadette, I know what you mean counting down the day’s, weeks & minutes. We are from Newcastle

  • Jody

    Hi Kim

  • Katrina

I’m really looking forward to getting onboard, and fully familiarising myself with the spa area. The Hydro bath looks tempting & the Herbal Steam room, will be a “must do” on a sea day I’d say. Got to love a bit of pampering! While my sons are in HQ, I’ll be able to retreat to this sanctuary. The spa on Star Princess was great, & Pacific Jewel’s looks equally tempting.

  • Elaine

  • marty duke

    Hi
First time cruiser going on 1/2/2010 on Pacific Jewel. Looking to see if anyone else going might want to meet up.

  • nicole

    Hi Bronwyn,
I am booked to go on the 19 Jan on Jewel with my husband and 2 kids (8 and 4 yrs) but I am really worried we have picked a dud. My neighbour who was on the inaugral cruise with friends and her children got off in Melbourne and flew home as they said the service was so bad, drinks warm, food cold and ridiculous lines for meals. Also said the kids club was dangerous as there was not enough supervision and the kids can step out and overboard – she is kidding right? Just wanted to hear from someone who has been on the Jewel. I have sailed once before on RCI (Alaska) and it was amazing. I am not expecting 5 star like that as this is Australian cruising, but her comments are stressing me out and I am thinking of cancelling.

  • Dr.Lohith

I remember my working days as an acupuncturist in the same spa which was called Karma spa and the ship was Ocean village two.
    Its a Fantastic spa.!!

  • shelly

    What does anytime dining mean?

  • http://PacificJewelblog Kay

Anytime dining is come and go as you please. It is bistro style dining which is on deck 12 . Cafe de Sol on the Dawn and plantation on the Jewel.

  • Khloe Salt

We are cruising 14th feb :) there is 4 of us going. Me and my partner and my friend and her partner

  • Tracy

    Hi Trish, Vicky and Sharon

This is our first cruise. We just booked and now only have 3 months to wait. I’m so excited I think I’ll burst! It’s going to be just my partner and I cause we’re leaving the 17yr old (Mr Attitood) monster at home :-) I’ve read all the blogs (negative and positive) and nothing can put me off this cruise. We are all going to have the time of our lives.

  • lynda dixon

my husband and i are taking our granddaughter on the jewel, sailing on 10/3/2010. if anyone else is cruising on that date drop us a line. we are all sooooo excited. we are a little bit concerned about our granddaughter (11) making friends as she is rather shy, any tips that are passed on would be appreciated.

  • lynda dixon

  • john pihlgren

my wife and i are going on the jewel 10th may it is our first crusie and we are really looking foreward 2 it is anyone on same ship

  • Ruth

I returned about a week ago from a trip on the Pacific Jewel. I was looking foward to getting heaps of massages, but after the 1st massage on day 2 of the cruise – I didn’t go back for more :( I got so seasick in the massage rooms it spoiled the whole experience. I think this is because of where they positioned the aqua spa on the ship!

  • manny

  • Susan

My husband & I & 2 kids (18 & 21, well my little adults) are going on the Pacific Jewel in March 2011. We have a 4 berth cabin with bunk beds. Can anyone tell me what the cabins are like? Are they roomy enough or will we be like sardines in a tin? My children think they will be bored, is plenty of free things to do on the ship as I’ve heard you have to pay for alot now? Any ideas on shore tours, which ones are better?

  • http://PacificJewelblog Kay

I have not been on the jewel yet but the dawn and I think they are very simular. You step up into the bathroom which is very compact and a hands reach to everything.

  • Megan

Sabrina of a day casual gear is fine on our cruise which was 9 nights we had 2 formal nights and island night pirate night and some others but a lot is available on the islands and on board.
Of a night we got dressed in smart casual for dinner and dine in the dining for breakfast lunch and dinner its great especially lunch…….Enjoy we did!!!!

  • cheryl

I have been on 3 cruises, not on jewel. The bathrooms are raised and you need to step up into them. Myself and my daughter both have physical problems and found it hard we had to pull ourselves up into small confined bathroom. There are rooms for disabled that are flat to enter from cabin and larger is size but heard that if they ‘think’ someone is worse, without seeing you, they will give disabled cabin to someone else at last minute and you will not have choice where you get put. There are very elderly in wheelchairs on every cruise, less on 7 night cruises as they get less elderly.
    hope this helps

  • pat

    Hey Kylie,

Just wondering How your cruise went , did the kids go to kids club , I see you have just gone on your cruise from the blogg , Im worried about taking my 3 year old to kids club , how well are they looked after your children , can they get out and run off, im worried about my 3 year old who likes to climb, is that a reality on board ??? My then 9 year old also is going , im sure she will be fine, im going on the jewel on the 6th of september , any feed back would be great , thank you , and i hope you and your family had a great time…
    Pat

  • http://pacificjewel Natalie

Hi Pat,I just saw your blog,And you were wondering about your 3yr old child! The children are looked after excepitionally well. You and your partner will have no worrie’s.My son is now 8 and he had his 1st cruise when he was 3yrs old and he loved every moment at the kids club and he didnt want to leave(plus we stayed a while with him every now and then/joined in ) He went again 1 half yrs ago and LOVED IT.He was to busy making art/crafts,playing games, watching movies at night! I cant commend it enough…You need to sign your child in,1st of all.Take your passports to kids club 1st time for i/d.Then you and your partner have to sign in and out both your children every time they go.The smaller children have like gates and there is always employers at the entrance and doors. You can also borrow a beeper, and keep it with you during the cruise. You will be contacted if need be.No they can not get out and run around.Your daughter will make alot of new friends as well.My family love cruising there’s nothing like it.Enjoy Natalie

  • phil

HI Cheryl a very big THANK YOU for your comments i took your advise and booked a disable room im heading off in may 2011 once again thank you

  • phil

HI I am slightly disable is it possible for me to get into the pools on the pacific jewel is it disable friendly i hope someone can help thanks heaps

  • Amanda

    Hi Susan
My family and I went on the Pacific Jewel in March earlier this year and loved it. My family consists of my husband and myself and 2 daughters one 15 and one 18 and we all loved it. The room was plenty big enough once you have unpacked your clothes and stowed away your suit cases. We found there was more than enough draw space with three sets of draws with 4 or five draws each near the beds and another set of about 10 draws just out side the bathroom next to plenty of hanging space. The bath room although it is compact again it is big enough with the actual shower recess more than big enough. There is plenty to do on board at any time of the day giving a large variety of options for everyone. We found the staff extremely helpfull and friendly all the time. When they say in your information NOT to bring your own beach towels DON’T bother there are always some in your cabin for you to use even when you go on shore tours and they are replenished when ever you need them to be, the service is great. You didn’t say where you where cruising to so I’m not sure which shore tours to recommend but we enjoyed all of ours. Our holiday was worth every cent we loved it so much we are already organising our next one but this time it will be longer and I can’t wait. Enjoy yourselves.

  • Susan

Hi Amanda, Thanks for replying. We are doing the Pacific Sensation, stopping at Noumea, Ouvea, Vila, Mystery Island, & Isle of Pines. If you went on this cruise, Id love to hear back about the shore tours, or from anyone that has been on the shore tours & what they thought of them. Tar.

  • Amanda

    Hi Susan
Our cruise visited Noumea, Vile,Penticost and Lifou. We were supposted to visit Ouva but we were diverted to Lifou because of native unrest on Ouva so your cruise may do the same, which is fine because Lifou has the most beautiful snorkelling staight off the beach on the other side of the island which take about 15 minutes to walk to, this is a very beautiful island and the people are very welcoming. When we went to Noumea we went on the Zodiak Ride to Duck Island and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guide was very friendly and the ride to the island was fun then the island it’s self is only tiny but very pretty and you relax there for a few ours, swimming snorkling sunbaking and walking aound the island befor heading back to the main land, we all loved it. Vila we did the Cascade Waterfall walk. This again was great, wery beautiful and well oganised. The guides were very friendly and the walk was easy with a lovley swim at the falls it’s self. On Lifou it’s self if you end up there they have no organised tours but befor you leave they give you an idea on what to see and were to go. Also on Vila we went on the Jet Boat Adventure excellent but you get very very wet. I hope this helps. All the tours are extremely well organised, have fun!

    Past Passenger Testimony- P&O Jewel 26/04 -07/05/2010
You can read hundreds and hundreds of past passenger blogs, but it won’t ever give you an accurate sum up of what this amazing ship has to offer. My hubby & I realised this from the moment we boarded the Jewel.Everyone’s experience is going to differ. What we found when reading these blogs,is that unfortunately, most people who don’t enjoy their experience, are generally the very first people to share with the whole world about their “ordeal”. Sadly, those of us who’ve infact had a trip of a lifetime will often be busy printing our happy snaps & arranging our photo albums, & will forget to share our positive feedback. So for those of you worried about any negative blogs you may have read in the past,…it’s best you keep this in mind. My hubby & I were so taken back by our recent cruise,& words just can’t describe the amazing time we had. From the moment we boarded the ship, our cabin stewardess Claire was so friendly & helpful. She continuously made us feel as though we were the only couple on board, & this was the case for most passengers we talked to from various levels on the ship with their cabin stewards. These extremely hard working employees should be treated with the upmost respect during your cruise,as the long hours they put into making your trip comfortable is simply outstanding. The entertainment team were extremely friendly & easy to approach & talk to. We did’nt come accross 1 employee who did’nt deserve their role on board. We’d like to give a special mention to the following crew: Paul,Alun,Sara,Kelly,Adam&Tom.Congratulations to you all!!! Paul, you certainly have one incredible team working closely beside you. We loved the fact that each & everyone of these guy’s made time for all passengers. It did’nt matter that there was up to 2000 people on board,…they continuously go out of their way to make everyone feel a part of something. With their outgoing and bubbly personalities, these guys never gave us a dull moment. We forgive you all for your cheating antics during the daily staff vs passenger water volleyball matches however. If it was’nt for Alun’s BINGO and gorgeous rendition of whitney’s “I will always love you”, I dont think we’d be as forgiving!!! The entertainers & shows on board were fabulous, & we’d like to thank each & everyone of you. The hours that go into providing us passengers these high quality shows is undoubtedly endless. Our only regret was not being able to thank you all personally!!! For any future passengers who’d like a little pampering while on board the jewel,….Aqua Spa staff & services are fantastic. A special mention to Sam & Cindy, two beautiful girls who work tirelessly in the hair salon with gorgeous personalities & with a professional approach. Thanks! xoxo We’d also like to thank the wonderful commodore on board jewel who was kind enough to conduct my hubby & my renewal of vows. Thankyou so much for making this night a truely memorable evening,…we’ll never forget your kindness.
To all future passengers,Jewel is definately a once in a lifetime experience. Only YOU alone can determine the kind of holiday you’ll have. We can only suggest that you keep an open mind,& to get involved in everything the ship has to offer. The amount of friendships you’ll make whilst on board is incredible. We’re happy to say we’ve made some life long friendships with other passengers from all over Australia,…& as we discussed with Paul the Cruise Director the last night of our cruise,….you just can’t put a price on that!!!!
THANKYOU P&O Jewel. We will continue singing your praises,
& we look forward to cruising with you again shortly.
Our kindest Regards to staff & fellow passengers,
    Simon & Charmaine (Adelaide)
